A note from the author

When I started writing, something inside woke up—a tingling sensation that told me what I was doing was right. I always knew I had a gift that I kept hidden from the people in my life—the way I see the world and the ability I have to put my imagination into words. This passion, along with a deep-rooted fear of leaving things unsaid, is what inspired me to start my first novel.Psychosis.And then came the doubt. The launch I envisioned got buried under “normal.”I let fear win. But I never stopped writing.Believing that one day… it would be me.I’m no stranger to trauma, depression, or anxiety. I hide them behind my outgoing personality, professionalism, and love for fun—but now, I’m ready to reveal the truth. I want to show others how to be brave even when the walls are caving in.So what’s my plan?Show the world that I’m not the “…strong confident, girl I’ve been pretending to be.” Expose my insecurities as well as the judgmental comments that have held me back. Remind people that their first impression isn’t always the right one, and even though we may see our own insecurities… we should never be the one to point out others. Be able to save lives through my writing, to be able to travel with my kids and LIVE.To wake the world up.…I guess we’ll see how it evolves.

After They Stop Looking

“A surge of energy rushes through me and I smile because I remember what this feeling is. It’s something I haven’t felt in so long, a feeling that I had once deemed unobtainable.
I feel…
Alive.”

BUBBLE

"I guess it’s true—if you get trapped in hell long enough, even the most selfless heroes can become villains."

ELEMENTS

"Their computers and phones full of celebrities take priority.
The irony…
At least some of them are trying—trying to wake the world up from the robotic nightmare only a small amount of humans are aware they’re living in."

Not Their Algorithm

"The human brain fascinated me.
The way it would convince itself there was a different path while every medical diagnosis led to the same conclusion. Its need to protect itself was greater than what it thought it knew…"

ELEMENTS—a collection of short stories

To whoever is ready,

There were several times I felt it—the spark in my body that told me I was doing something right. That I was on to something. The day my son was born, the day I looked at my daughter and decided to quit my corporate job, and the day I started writing. That energizing spark was addicting. I started to look for it everywhere, as it turned out, it wasn’t very hard to find.I had to shift—from that girl who craved the couch every day to someone who said yes to life. It pulled me away from my robotic ways and I found myself doing things I never would have imagined. I was no longer afraid of the spotlight—I searched for it.And I could see the impact it had on people everywhere I went.
It wasn’t the attention I craved—if you know me, then you know that actually makes me extremely uncomfortable—it was the spark I saw in people’s eyes. The questioning and inspiration I left behind.
But then I got scared…
I lost the light that was driving me, and doubt overwhelmed me. It wasn’t doubt in my writing—I know my stories are exceptional.
It was doubt in the world.
Why wasn’t anyone cheering me on?Why weren’t people more excited I found it?My purpose.Well, turns out… it’s because it’s terrifying. It’s terrifying to give up security—the life I had imagined—for one that called out to me. My people had to say goodbye to the person they knew. They had to watch me transform into someone who saw a connection to everything…Into someone with a diagnosis.Apophenia.So I gave up, I stopped spreading the word and I went back to that familiar green apron, but I never stopped writing.
Dreaming.
Searching for people like me.
Now I’m ready.I’ll never stop trying to wake people up—to get their wheels turning and bring back the child who couldn’t wait to chase their dreams.Who am I?
I’m just a mom from Deer Park who loves to write and would do anything to be home with my babies.
I’m also confident as hell.Confident that you’ll find a little bit of yourself in there—my novels. My name is Courtney Bond. A girl who used to feel stuck.I don’t feel that way anymore. And it’s freeing.I highly recommend it.
